Lingfield & Dormansland Meals on Wheels have retained their 5 star rating by the Food Standards Agency following a spot check earlier this week.
The officer from Tandridge District Council arrived unannounced in the Meals on Wheels kitchen just as the team were serving up Monday’s lunch. After questioning the cooks and inspecting the kitchen, the 5 star rating – which is the highest award and means ‘very good’ – was confirmed by the inspector.
Debbie Doran, Meals on Wheels committee member, was cooking on the day. “We had no idea it was going to happen so it was a bit of a surprise!” said Debbie “But I’m happy to say we passed with flying colours! The inspector told us he was very impressed with the cleanliness of the kitchen and said he rarely sees such good kitchen management. It’s a great compliment to all involved”.
The Meals on Wheels service continues to go from strength to strength thanks to the dedication and commitment of the committee and the 150 volunteers who cook and deliver the meals.
