Congratulations are in order for the Lingfield & Dormansland Meals on Wheels team which has won an award at the Living and Ageing Well awards held last week.

The awards, promoted and sponsored by Surrey County Council and Age UK Surrey, invited nominations for individuals and organisations which make their community a better place to live for older people.   Meals on Wheels Co-ordinators Pat Smith and Sara Watson were at Wednesday’s ceremony and were delighted to be announced winners of the of the Help at Home Award.  Pat said “We are thrilled to win this award.  We believe Meals on Wheels is a vital service within our community and this is recognition for all the hard work and dedication of our volunteers over the years”.

The service is one of the few independent Meals on Wheels services in the country which is run entirely by volunteers.  The team of 150 dedicated cooks and deliverers provide freshly cooked meals to the housebound residents of Lingfield, Dormansland and Crowhurst every week of the year.
