The Community Centre in Lingfield aims to raise £2,500 from the Co-op Community Fund
The Co-op has selected the Lingfield & Dormansland Community Centre to be their members’ community fund beneficiaries for the forthcoming year. The scheme encourages Co-op members to nominate a local selected cause to benefit from their purchases of Co-op branded products and services. Last year the nationwide scheme raised £19m for local causes near their stores.
Community Centre Chairman Ian Jones said, “We are thrilled that the Co-op has decided to choose Lingfield & Dormansland Community Centre as their community fund charity for the next 12 months. For many in the area the Community Centre provides a varied programme of activities that help to reduce loneliness, isolation and social exclusion. As a charity, the centre has to look at many ways to raise funds so we can afford to keep the doors open for this vital work. The recent sell out Opera, Murder Mystery Play and Quiz Night together with classes, parties, community group meetings and exhibitions all help, but this fund will make a real difference”.
Ian adds, “Our target is £2,500 and the money raised will enable us to help continue to support important local social and wellbeing groups that may otherwise find it difficult to continue meeting. We would encourage residents, family and friends who are Coop members to choose Lingfield & Dormansland Community Centre, or if not a member to join the Coop for £1 by visiting www.coop.co.uk/membership and nominate us.“
