In these difficult times, the demand on Foodbanks is increasing daily. Did you know that you can drop off your donations at the Community Centre? All donations go to the East Grinstead Foodbank which also serves the people of Lingfield and Dormansland.
The East Grinstead Foodbank welcomes those who are in need of help with increasing financial difficulties and food shortages. Based at the Jubilee Centre (JC) in Charlwoods Road, the EG Foodbank, (which also covers Lingfield and Dormansland), offers a warm welcome to those who come along for assistance (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 1pm-3pm). In addition to providing food (voucher system in place), it works alongside the Citizen’s Advice Bureau and Christians against Poverty, to provide advice on debt, fuel poverty and benefits. The EG Foodbank celebrates its 10th anniversary in December and during that time 237,968 kgs of food have been distributed, 16,000 people fed and 6626 food vouchers issued.
Volunteers are also needed for a variety of tasks. Current Food donations required are – Christmas tubs of chocolates, biscuits, iced cake slice, and puddings (medium size) 300/440g, cooking oil 1 ltr bottles, instant mash potato and jars of peanut butter. Bring to church , drop at JC, or donate at Sainsburys and Waitrose in EG. Put the Bank the Food app on your mobile phone as a reminder when you shop. www.eastgrinstead.foodbank.org.uk Tel. 07856 864251.
