The Community Centre will be hosting monthly meetings of the Positive Birth Movement from 6th February.
The Positive Birth Movement is a global network of FREE to attend antenatal groups, linked up by social media which connects pregnant women together to share stories, expertise and positivity about childbirth. The aim is to challenge the epidemic of negativity and fear that surrounds modern birth and help change birth for the better.
The meetings will be facilitated by Laura Berkeley and supported by local healthcare professionals such as midwives, health visitors, and breastfeeding counsellors, who often attend the meetings. There will be a different topic for discussion each month.
They welcome not only expectant mums but also mums who have had a good birth experience, so they can share their positive stories with those who are pregnant.
The group will meet on the first Wednesday of each month from 11am to 12 noon in the Plaxon Room. Laura says “Why not come along for a cup of tea and cake, make friends and build a positive support network for yourself and other group members”. Babies and toddlers are welcome (there will be a selection of toys to keep them occupied).
For more information contact Laura on 07878 992270 or check out the Positive Birth Movement Lingfield & Godstone Facebook page where there is lots of information and the programme of topics for the forthcoming meetings.
