Update on reopening

The government has announced that, from 6 July, community centres will be able to reopen. This is, of course good news and, as we begin to emerge from confinement, we are exploring what that means for your Centre.
At present, we sadly have no choice but to remain closed to the general public. We are investigating how individual groups and activities can resume and some, such as the Little Chums pre-school have been able to do so. It is a condition of reopening that we adhere to the rules on social distancing, cleaning and the safety of our users and staff. This means that, for the present, we are able to accommodate only a limited number of users, where it is possible to ensure separation and where there is not a large amount of physical exertion.
Over the past few days, we have contacted the groups that were using the Centre before lockdown and have invited them to discuss with us their plans to return. We will need to agree with each user how they will operate and the responsibility for increased levels of cleaning and other safety practices that will be necessary.
The directors are delighted that our manager, Claire Thomas, has agreed to return to work part-time from 1 July. So, if you are a past or potential future user of the Community Centre, please contact Claire by phone on 01342 833 933 or by email, enquiries@lingfieldcentre.org to discuss whether and how we might be able to accommodate you, or email us if you have a more general enquiry.
We will update our website with further news about our reopening plans when we have more details to hand. In the meantime, stay safe and we look forward to the time when we can welcome you back to Lingfield and Dormansland Community Centre.
