This year’s exhibition presented by the RH7 History Group will take place at Lingfield & Dormansland Community Centre from 29th May until 1st June. The exhibition, entitiled Who do you think they were? showcases the lives of local people including an international statesman, a renowned garden designer, a British Lion rugby cap, a Formula 1 World Champion, a world champion showjumper and a bestselling author, along with many others who lived in the RH7 Area.
The RH7 History Group, which was founded in 1999 by the late Peter Gray – an eminent local historian and acknowledged expert in historic buildings, aims to encourage and assist in the study of local and family history. As the name suggests, the main focus is on the RH7 postal district which covers the south-east Surrey communities of Lingfield, Blindley Heath, Crowhurst, Dormansland and Newchapel. The group has close ties with the Hayward Memorial Local History Centre in Lingfield which is a valuable local research resource housed in Lingfield Library.
Meetings are held at the Lingfield & Dormansland Community Centre, High Street, Lingfield commencing at 8.00 p.m. (doors open 7.30 p.m.) – there is a charge of £2.50 for non-members
