As many of our regular groups and visitors are off enjoying the summer holidays, we have been using this quieter time to do some work at the community centre.
One of the major projects has been refurbishing the ladies’ toilets. With support from Surrey Community Action and grant funding from Surrey County Council and Tandridge District Council, we have been able to modernise the ageing facilities and give the area a much- needed face-lift. We have also included some water and energy saving features in another step towards making LDCC eco-friendlier, building on the energy-saving upgrades we have already made to the central heating system and lighting at the centre.
Claire Thomas, Centre Manager, says “We are delighted with the make-over! We are always striving to improve facilities at the community centre and this has been on our wish list for a while”.
Our thanks go to Chris D’Avray who managed the project, local contractors Martin Hobden and Graham Tullett and of course to the organisations providing the grant funding, without which the project would not have been possible.
