Our penultimate film in this season of Flix in the Stix is Their Finest, a witty and heart-warming tale set in war-time London which will be screened on Sunday 13th May at 7.30pm.
The year is 1940 and the Blitz rages in London. With the country’s morale at stake, Catrin (Gemma Arterton), a rooky screenwriter, and a makeshift cast and crew, work frantictly to make a film to lift the nation’s rapidly flagging spirits; and inspire America to join the war.
Together with fellow screenwriter, Buckley (Sam Claflin) and eccentric actor Ambrose Hilliard (Bill Nighy), they set off to make a film that will warm the hearts of the nation and capture the imagination of the American people. Their Finest, based on Lissa Evans’ novel, ‘Their Finest Hour and a Half’, is a funny, romantic and moving portrayal of a young woman finding her feet within the mayhem of war… and the movies!
Tickets Come along early for tea and cake which is served from 7pm.
